Kringle

This is a coffee cake recipe Mom got from Marie Johnson. It’s a little tricky to make, but looks and tastes very impressive.

Melt 1/2 cup margarine or butter in a medium pot, stir in 1 cup flour and 2 T. water Spread on a cookie sheet in a rectangle. Bake at 350 for 5 minutes

While base is baking melt 1/2 cup butter or margarine with 1 cup water; bring to a boil. Add 1 cup flour, stir till absorbed, then add 3 eggs, one at a time, beating after each addition.

Add 1 tsp. almond flavoring.

Spoon this mixture onto baked crust, increase oven temp to 375, bake 45 minutes.

Frost with the following glaze:

1 1/2 cups powdered sugar

2 T. water

1 tsp. almond flavoring

Sprinkle with nuts or cherries if desired
