Not so old fashioned
This is my go-to drink for filling up a to-go mug and going on a snowy hike.
1 sugar cube
3 or more dashes of Angostura Bitters
2 slices of a Cara Cara orange with peel (1 for muddling, 1 for garnish)
2 Luxardo or maraschino cherries (1 for muddling, 1 for garnish)
2oz Rye
Dash of sparkling water
Ice
In a Rocks glass add your sugar cube and douse it with at least 3 dashes of your bitters. Drop in 1 slice of the orange and one cherry and add just a splash of sparkling water. Muddle together. Add your Rye and fill ice to the brim. Stir. You can strain it if you want it neat, but who’s got the time? Garnish with a good cherry and orange slice and enjoy.
