Baked Spareribs With Bar-B-Q Sauce
After Teresa died, Margaret took over the cooking. One of her specialties was barbecued spare ribs served with sauerkraut.
4 pounds spareribs
Flour well and brown in skillet with plenty of butter
Make sauce of the following:
1 large bottle of ketchup
Fill the empty bottle with water and add to ketchup
Grind in a meat grinder (or Cuisinart):
1 large green pepper
1 large onion
Add to ketchup along with 2-4 T. horseradish.
(I would add a tablespoon or more of Worcestershire sauce)
Boil sauce for 10 minutes.
Put spareribs in baking pan, pour sauce over and bake in a low oven (probably 325 degrees) basting frequently. Add more water if needed. May take 3 to 4 hours.
