Brown Sugar Filling

Mom made this to put between layers of white cake that was frosted with boiled frosting. It was Pop’s favorite and she made it for his birthday every year.

3/4 cup brown sugar

2 egg yolks

4 T. water

Dash of salt

3 T. butter

1/2 cup chopped walnuts

Mix all together in a medium saucepan; boil till it thickens. Cool, add chopped walnuts.
